Joe's very first tuba student recieves Grammy nomination! Tubist / bassist Jeanie Schroder and the band Devotchka recieved a Grammy nomination for their soundtrack to the Academy-Award nominated film Little Miss Sunshine!

Rockstar weekend! right after hitting with TS Monk in Columbus, headed from the airport directly to Summerstage in Central Park to jump on stage with the Himalayas playing with the Brazilian Girls! ...at one point in the show the Brazilian Girls' bassist had Joe take over for a bit.
--Total rockstar moment.-- :)

On the Road with T.S. MONK - Joe will be appearing again with T.S. Monk and his "Monk on Monk" big band. This time in Columbus for the Columbus Jazz (and Rib!) Festival on July 21.
Clifton Hyde Tuba Trio - a exciting new project with Mississippi-raised acoustic guitar maven Clifton Aird Hyde. Clifton, Joe and drummer Kevin Garcia have been hitting around town, and also recently hit the studio with the great Joe McFee and a host of other great folks. Clifton and Joe also joined Kenny Wollesen and his Himalayas for the grand finale of a large show with Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson at St. Anne's Warehouse in Dumbo. Clifton's guitar antics are a "must hear!"

Joe's been on the road teaching a lot over the summer, amazing times, amazing people.
Tuba Love took a bit of a hiatus over the summer, as much of the band was on the road
with other groups, at festivals etc. Look for gigs starting up again in the Fall!
The 55 Bar was GREAT!! Nice crowd, amazing vibe. It was a great location for TL to play!

MANY NEW SOUND CLIPS POSTED! For the benefit of folks worldwide, and by request, we have posted archival LIVE recordings of many TUBA LOVE shows. Some recordings are of a higher fidelity than others, but we have actual Hi-Fi recordings coming soon. The last few shows have had great recordings done of them. Stay posted. We have attempted to capture and share the live experience.
Participation in the James Tenney concerts was intense! Joe says it was such an honor to be part of that historic event.

TUBA LOVE Gigs are ROLLING IN. TUBA LOVE is taking NYC by TUBASTORM. Hitting at Don Hill's, the (legendary dive) 55 Bar, and will be coming back to the good ol Bowery Poetry Club (it's for music too!)...and there are others on the horizon as well. If you've not been out to hear TL, it's time and the opportunities are plenty.
THREE finishes out Lyubo to sell out crowds!! The tuba trio THREE completed the run of the theater show Lyubo which featured the low-note triad as musical providers for this theatrical experience in SoHo in NYC. The show ended on a hi (or low, however you wanna look at it) note with multiple sell out crowds. (apologies to those of you who made the trip out and did not get to see it because of the sellouts)
FANTASTIC support at Rububad!! TUBA LOVE played a THREE hour marathon set -- and the audience would not let the band stop! It was amazing!!
THREE is featured in the production "Lyubo" by world-renowned puppeteer/playwright/director/composer Chris Green. "A saturation of puppet theatre, dance and cinema (recreating cinemagraphic techniques such as zooms, frames and shifts in scale and perspective), Lyubo features original songs for live piano, tubas and a Balkan duet."This amazing production gets ELEVEN performances -- from Jan 20 to 30. HUGE Congratulations Joe's amazing sister who is the new official bass player for Nashville Pussy (YES, this is the same Grammy Nominated Nashville Pussy who's dawned the cover of Rolling Stone!) Karen is amazing!! HERE is a picture of her rocking out. She'll be touring the world 2005-2006.
